For whatever reason, with Internet Explorer set to work offline, the Diablo 3 installer was failing to do anything other than time out.
Edit: battle net app seems to be attempting to update the wow PTR build with zero success, trying to download exactly 1.31 MB everytime to the game files, starting with 'Initializing' then moving to downloading, then 'waiting', then it loops back to 'Initializing'. FIX: Reinstall PTR, I've tried all possible solutions with this one being the last resort, it fixes it, note that you can copy your data folder from live to the PTR folder to save download time, but a mandatory (estimated) 2.74gb for the 7.3 update will still need to be downloaded. If or Blizzard Update Agent are running select it and click End Process.* Delete both Files and Cache folders* Restart the app and try logging into the PTR.
Skip this if you already have this downloaded from before or have downloaded it from a mirror.
4) After the downloader has completed downloading into the folder "126.96.36.19974 US PTR Installer" open that folder and run "Blizzard Updater.exe" 5) Choose any location with enough space to install the PTR client onto (15-20gb free space) 6) The installer will install the 3.01 PTR inside a folder called "World of Warcraft Public Test" folder.
However, now when I try to reinstall the game, the Diablo 3 Setup starts 'Updating setup files...' and then hangs; I have had a quick google for ideas on how to fix it which seems to bring up a bunch of posts when the server loads were really high last year, nevertheless I have been through the list of suggestions, making sure that secondary login is enabled, running the installer as administrator, etc.In the course of IIS7 development, the team and I have answered an infinity of questions about IIS7 on any possible topic imaginable.Ironically, neither I nor anyone else I know on the team has ever answered the most basic question – what is the minimum set of steps necessary to get a website running with IIS7?Make sure you are not playing Wo W when attempting to copy your character.Make sure you choose a realm that fits your play style, as there are both Pv P and Pv E test realms. All character transfers and copies to the PTR from any of your live accounts will show up on that dummy PTR account when they've completed.
